Gate valves are primarily used for on-off isolation service in piping systems.
They are designed to provide minimal flow resistance when fully open.

Design Characteristics

Gate valves operate by lifting a gate out of the fluid path.
They are suitable for applications where the valve is either fully open or fully closed,
and are not recommended for frequent throttling service.
